Corporate Designs and Prototype

Ultradent Products, Inc. is a global dental supply and manufacturing company. Their products are used worldwide by dentists, group practices, government agencies, and universities.

For the corporate campaign, I was assigned with designing an updated landing page, web banners, email heroes, and social media assets. With this project I needed to make sure I stayed consistent with branding, and improved the messaging and design of their current about page.

Challenge

This project required a lot of collaboration. It required me to work with a print designer, copywriter, web development, marketing, 3D artists, and an art director for many of the assets. We were assigned to come up with some look and feel ideas–and I decided to pitch an idea that was inspired by Apple. They wanted to communicate a lot of ideas throughout the phases of this campaign, and I wanted to create a campaign that could communicate and voice all of it. I came up with the idea of having an animated logo that could visually show different topics in an artistic way and utilizing it throughout many of the web assets. Marketing liked the idea, so we progressed on the project. They also liked the design of flyout products, so I had to come up with a solution for the landing page that would incorporate both an animated logo and the flout product visual.

About Page Redesign

Consistency among all the asset creators of this campaign was key. I needed to find a way to communicate everything marketing wanted to within a landing page, while making sure it was usable. There was a lot of information that they wanted to disclose, as well as the messaging needed to attract people to work at the company. I wanted to make sure that the about page wasn’t miles long with my awareness that drop-off increases the further down you go. From previous heat-mapping data I’ve collected, I fount that interactive elements had much higher click-rate than some CTAs. So I wanted to really utilize interactive features as much as possible. I designed an updated about page that stayed within the guidelines of branding, utilized the new messaging, highlighted all the recommended topics, and was visually appealing. I also created a number of accompanied web assets for the campaign including, email heroes, social assets, and web banners.

Click Through Prototype

I knew that I was going to design the page with a number of interactive elements, and wanted to make sure when presenting that my design was being fully understood. I decided to create a click-through prototype so that my design could be interacted with and seen as close to the final product as possible. This also came in handy when delivering the designs to the developer who would be building it.

Additional Designs

Along with the about page redesign, I was given the responsibility of many other digital assets to produce for the campaign. This included web icons, web banners, social ads, and email heroes. They had to look consistent with the look and feel of the entire campaign, and utilize established elements. Below are some of the graphics I created to accompany my web responsibilities.

Overview

This was a great project to learn the process of collaboration. It was really nice to share the responsibility of a project and see a team of people work together in their areas of expertise to see the final project come to life. Often I have been used to being the horse that pulls it all. In this project it was nice to work with so many other talented people that had a part in the campaign. I also really enjoyed learning the process of prototyping on FIGMA. I have prototyped before using other software programs, but this was the first time doing so with FIGMA and that was quite enjoyable. It really opened my eyes to how much I enjoy problem solving, and strategizing usability with prototyping.
