Startup Branding and Web Design
Digital Impulse is a startup digital company that specializes in app and web design and development. I was a part of the startup and was responsible for the app design, web design, and branding of the company. I am no longer involved due to some personal responsibilities that came up–but I thoroughly enjoyed my experience designing for interaction.
Since the company had a focus on technology–I wanted to create branding that was clean, simplistic, and modern. I used a color scheme that was trustworthy, and web designs that fit the branding and communicated message of the company.
Challenge
Create all the branding materials for the startup, produce copy, and provide designs for the website. Since the goal of the company was to design and develop applications and digital services–I needed to incorporate the apps within the website also while providing informative content about the services provided. It was also important to stand out from the noise of competition.
Custom Patterns and Icons
I was responsible for designing all the branding elements for the company, and ended up making some custom icons and patterns for the branding elements. I tied these designs into the webpage and the branded elements to create consistency.
Design Solution
I worked with a computer programmer on these designs, receiving feedback and recommendations. I needed to create a web design that felt modern, clean, and tech–as the whole mission of the startup was to cater to the digital market. We went with shades of blue for our color scheme, sans-serif typefaces, subtle patterns, and clean web design. I created all the copy for the designs, making sure to keep on-page SEO in mind.
Overview
This project required research of competitors and their approach to a web design that incorporates application landing pages, as well as a number of digital web services. Creating copy for all of the services and offerings was quite challenging, as well as strategizing what services we would provide. I enjoyed the overall project as it really informed me of how challenging it can be to start a business, because of all the details involved.
