Corporate Education Designs
Billtrust, founded in 2001, is a financial software company specializing in accounts receivable automation, digital payment processing, cash application, collections, and invoicing solutions for a diverse range of clients.
I was responsible for designing digital and web assets for the company’s education team. This role introduced me to the challenges of working within a restrictive LMS, Cornerstone SBX. Despite its limitations, I pushed the design boundaries to create engaging and visually cohesive experiences. My contributions included designing the homepage, internal pages, and email templates, all while ensuring consistency with the company’s new brand identity.
Challenge
This project presented a significant challenge as it required me to navigate Cornerstone SBX, a learning management system I had not previously used. The platform imposed strict limitations on creative flexibility, restricting modifications to many elements and pages. As a result, I had to develop innovative design solutions that worked within these constraints while ensuring a seamless integration of the new branding. Maintaining visual consistency across the LMS, products, and website was a top priority. For this project, I was responsible for both the design and front-end development of multiple LMS pages, as well as creating email templates, digital assets, and supporting designs.
Design Solution
My primary focus was implementing the new branding, which included updated colors, iconography, vector graphics, imagery, and typography. Additionally, the design needed to maintain a clean, modern, and user-friendly aesthetic, as requested. With the education team transitioning from a previous LMS, their goal was to create a more intuitive experience for both customers and employees. My approach involved thoroughly exploring Cornerstone SBX to understand its capabilities and limitations, then designing a functional and visually cohesive homepage, subpage, and email templates tailored to their needs.
Email Template Designs
The email templates required a learning curve to navigate effectively. However, once I gained a thorough understanding of the coding and delivery process, I was able to refine my approach. This knowledge enabled me to design and develop templates that aligned seamlessly with the education team’s requirements while maintaining functionality and visual consistency.
Overview
The new designs proved highly successful for the education team, resulting in increased engagement within the LMS and improved navigation for customers. Despite the challenges, this project was an enjoyable and rewarding experience. I thrive on the opportunity to learn new content management systems and develop creative design solutions that enhance usability and functionality.
