Healthcare Web Design & Build
Mitchell Clinic is an independent practice who specializes in acute care, as well as, management of chronic health conditions in ages newborn to geriatric. They provide physical exams, immunizations, newborn care, women’s health, disease management, healthcare, and minor surgeries.
My responsibility was to create a small CMS WordPress web design and build, that was informative and communicated their services to patients. I had to abide by HIPAA laws, and make their website work well with forms, their payment portal, and scheduling appointments. They also wanted me to set up a ‘News Bulletin Board’ on their website that was easy for them to use and update.

Challenge
Mitchell Clinic didn’t have a website, and they were looking for something simple that communicated their mission and services well. They also wanted a website that would be build on a WordPress CMS and easy for them to update. When designing and building the site, I had to strategically keep in mind what they were intending on changing and make it easy for them to edit. I also had to work within the parameters of the WordPress CMS system and create solutions for them to easily edit and update their site.

Design Solution
The client’s number one goal was to improve their SEO, but also educate their patients. They were very adamant that scheduling appointments was very important to them, outlining their services, and communicating the details of their business. I didn’t have a model to work from, so I created a design that encompassed their current branding, and overall communicated a trustworthy and comforting aesthetic.
I had to do some research on small clinic websites to know what information they communicate, as well as overall aesthetic feel. To create trust in an online environment especially when it comes to an industry so vulnerable, I wanted to create as much trust as possible. I created a sitemap that would cover the providers and introduce them, their services, a news bulletin, testimonials, multiple places to contact, and additional information. I set the site up in a way that utilized templates that would be easy for the client to update on their own, to prevent constant site changes from developers. I also trained the customer on their new site to ensure comfort for them to use.

Overview
I really enjoyed this project, because it was a learning experience to create a site for the medical industry. I needed to educate myself as well on what information we could obtain for security reasons and to comply with HIPAA. I really loved creating a site with the goal of enforcing trust and comfort. I created an environment for patients first, and also made sure it was easily editable for the client.
