Shipping Web Design & Build
Point 2 Ship is an online shipping company that brings together all the carriers you use most into one simple interface to manage them all. You can get quotes from companies all on one screen for large or heavy item hauling. The system lets you customize your shipping partners so that you only get quotes from the carriers you use.
I was responsible for designing and coding a website for this new company. I was provided with the information and the branding. After reviewing all the information, and doing external research on other shipping companies–I designed a website that exhibited a calm and trustworthy vibe.

Challenge
This was a new company, amidst an industry of many competitors. This was also a project that was very different from what I was familiar with. I knew that I needed to enforce trust, and a sense of calm to reflect the message and mission of Point 2 Ship. I also knew that this would be developed on a WordPress CMS system–so working within those parameters were also something that I needed to keep in mind.

Brand Elements
With this web design, the branding already existed. I recommended a small alteration of the logo to implement a muted color palette so that the original bright red wouldn’t overwhelm the audience. Also, the messaging is to ensure simple use and ease of mind–bright red is quite stress inducing. Using the branding that was provided, I created a color scheme, custom icons, custom graphics, and printable elements for the website while maintaining brand consistency.

Design Solution
I wanted to take a very simplistic and easy to use approach for this website. The message and mission of the company is to create ease of mind for consumers to create a hub for all their shipping needs. I didn’t want to overwhelm them with information on the website, but rather allow them to dig further if they wanted to learn more. I wanted to encompass a sense of calm and trust in the website, which is why I made sure to use muted imagery of people. I created mockup screens for all the intended pages of the website and wanted to make sure there was plenty of content for good on-page SEO, as well as the information getting communicated well. It required me to create quite a few web graphics that would be within branding guidelines.

Overview
This web design project was one of my most enjoyable because of the difference in industry and amount of information that I would need to find a way of visually communicating. I accomplished this entire design and build within a very limited timeframe. It was enjoyable to see my design come to life, and the problem solving portion of how to communicate such a robust amount of information was very rewarding to me.
