Non-profit Web Design
The Teddy Bear Den is a non-profit organization that inspires economically disadvantaged pregnant women in the Sioux Falls Community to seek early and regular prenatal care. Their programs are geared towards limited income pregnant women, immigrant pregnant women, and teens. Their organization has helped over 32,000 pregnant women.
They had a very outdated website that I was tasked with updating and improving the usability of. It was very important for them to have great SEO, better usability for their clients, and cover all the information about their organization. Increasing click rate and contacts within their site was also very important.

Challenge
The Teddy Bear Den had a pretty outdated site that was not easy to use or edit. It was very important to create a design that would work well for both the clients, viewers, and those editing the site. When creating the design I had to keep that goal at the forefront. I had to educate myself quite a bit about the organization and find a way to organize their site so it was easy to navigate and use.

New Logo Option
They had an older logo that was just an image, so I decided to come up with a fresh new logo option that they could use if desired. In the end they decided to still go with the traditional logo, but I always like to provide updated options.

Design Solution
I needed to get myself familiar with the market and know who the audience is. The audience included both clients that would utilize services, but equally important, it included supporters of the organization. I needed to find a way visually to communicate to both audiences. I decided to go with an impactful colorful palette, that emphasized relevant heartfelt imagery, and created brand consistency throughout the site.
This project required a lot of copywriting, research, brand consistency, and information architecture. I felt that data was really important to show on their site, so I made sure to emphasize the positive impact of the organization. I also emphasized on-page SEO when building their site, and setting up spaces on their new site that would be easy to edit.

Overview
This was an amazing project, and was a joy to work on with the client. I learned a lot about non-profit design, and the different goals and factors involved in the process. After their new site design went live, the outcome was dramatic. Their click-rate and website contacts tripled. Their SEO was finally gaining them leads, they were receiving double-digits of contact form submissions per day, and donations were higher than with their previous site. It was very rewarding to be a part of a project that helped such an amazing organization.
